Connect an assistant or the API
PI Connect: ProximityIntel inside your AI assistant
Add PI to claude.ai, ChatGPT, Claude Desktop, Claude Code, Cursor or any MCP client. Three free questions, no account.
PI Connect is the connector (an MCP server) that lets an AI assistant call ProximityIntel and answer from the federal record instead of from memory. The hosted address is https://app.proximityintel.ai/mcp.
Add it
- claude.ai (web and mobile, paid plans): Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector, and paste the address.
- ChatGPT (paid plans, developer mode on): Settings, then Connectors, then Create, and paste the same address.
- Claude Code: in a terminal, claude mcp add --transport http proximityintel https://app.proximityintel.ai/mcp
- Cursor, Windsurf, VS Code: add a server with that address and transport http.
- Claude Desktop can also run the connector locally with a PI API key in its config. Members: Account, then API keys, has the file and the steps.
The first time
A ProximityIntel page opens with two doors. Paste a PI API key (members mint one under Account, then API keys), or choose Try it free: three lookups and one address check on a guest key, no account needed. When the free questions are used, the next answer says where Vantage is.
What the assistant can do
- Check whether an address is in a HUBZone or Opportunity Zone, today or on any date since 2018.
- Run the SBA two part HUBZone eligibility test for an office and its employees, legacy employees included.
- Tell you whether a firm is SBA certified or only self attested in SAM, and whether any SAM exclusion is in force on it.
- Search firms with the evidence behind each match, and find warm introduction paths through subcontract and mentor protege ties.
- Plan a conference floor: fit signals and intro paths for every exhibitor on a floor PI has loaded.
- Pull a prime award ledger, who a prime hires as subs, awarded GSA Schedule labor rates, and SAM.gov opportunities.
- Explain ProximityIntel plans and prices in our own words.
How it is metered
Every call counts against the key it runs on, the same as the API: address units for zone checks and the eligibility test, lookup units for everything about firms, one unit per firm or row. The assistant can ask for your usage at any time, free. Revoking the key under Account, then API keys, disconnects the assistant.
